Description

Are you serious about a career in finance? Would you like the chance to meet investment experts who can give you feedback about your finance knowledge and skills? Or maybe network with industry professionals to talk about your finance career aspirations? Or perhaps be invited to visit their offices, receive career mentoring, or even be invited to a job interview? Here’s your chance!

You are invited to apply here by 12 March 2021 for a place in the inaugural UNSW Finance Career Showcase. The Showcase will be held Online on Thursday 25 March (Week 6, Flexibility Week) starting at 2:30pm to approximately 7:30 pm.

The Showcase aims to provide final year and penultimate students from all degrees and majors interested in starting an exciting career in finance the opportunity to demonstrate their team and individual skills before prospective finance industry employers who are seeking top finance graduates. In essence, the Showcase is a job market opportunity for finance industry employer representatives to meet graduating students interested in finance.

The Showcase is jointly organised by the UNSW School of Banking and Finance, Financial Management Association of Australia (FMAA UNSW Chapter) student society, and UNSW Business School Career Accelerator and Student Engagement (CASE). There are three parts to the Showcase. First, student teams present before finance professionals an investment thesis or stock pitch about an ASX listed firm. Second, individual students present before non-finance professionals an oral proposal advocating a hypothetical workplace change or solution to a problem.

Employer representatives are invited to view the credentials of student participants prior to the Showcase, watch their team and individual presentations, and meet them in-person. Employer representatives are invited to incentivise students who perform well, for example, by inviting them to tour their offices, providing one-on-one or small group career mentoring, chatting further about career opportunities, or offering a job interview.
