Grant Thornton

What we look for

Aside from your qualifications, we’re looking for people that value the things we value.

  • We empower our people to make a difference. We want our people to think for themselves, to speak up, and to actively shape our firm’s culture and future.
  • We also genuinely care about our clients. As part of our work, we discover what’s important to them and enjoy helping them succeed.
  • We want our people to bring their whole selves to work. Individuality and authenticity is so important to our firm.
  • We highly value collaboration. We believe that it’s energising and stimulating to collaborate – to learn from and be inspired by others. We believe that teams will always outperform the individual.

Why students should work for us

In addition, our firm’s work is driven by The Grant Thornton Difference, which gives all our people a dynamic and supportive environment. This difference is underpinned by the following elements:

Our culture: we celebrate the breadth of experiences and perspectives that people bring to our organisation – especially their passion and creativity. We learn from each other, and then collaborate extensively to deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients.

Bring your whole self: we don’t think you should have to separate your ‘personal’ self from your ‘work’ self. We welcome the individuality of our people and know that a broad and diverse mix of team members enriches our workplace and enables us to do more for our clients.

Growing you: our team members have access to unique training and leadership opportunities. We offer a comprehensive CA support program, including mentoring, paid study leave and extensive support materials. Our team also benefits from high-quality learning programs through the Grant Thornton Academy which are designed and facilitated by our people for our people.

Growing our communities: as people, we don’t work in isolation. We’re part of communities that often require our assistance. Through the Grant Thornton Foundation, our people make a valuable contribution and take part in rewarding experiences.

Pushing the boundaries: we understand that for our people to learn and grow, they may need to move outside of their comfort zones. We offer local and global mobility, as well as a variety of roles, projects and clients to keep you engaged and progressing in your career.

Recruitment opportunities

We offer opportunities in our graduate program, vacation experience program and work & study program.

Our Work & Study program gives you the opportunity to gain practical experience as you study for your degree. In the program, you’ll undertake a mix of full- and part-time work and study over the course of your degree. Working with us will expose you to a variety of opportunities and get you ahead of the curve.

At Grant Thornton, we give you the opportunity to kick start your career with our Vacation Experience Program. Our program runs for four to six weeks, and offers opportunities across all of our service lines, such as advisory, audit, tax and privately held businesses. You’ll need to be in your penultimate year at university to be eligible for the program.

Our national graduate program helps you successfully transition from a university student to professional adviser. From day one, our graduates are given hands-on roles on a variety of projects – investigating issues, undertaking analysis and delivering real recommendations. There is also the opportunity to broaden your skills and perspective through mobility opportunities within Australia and beyond – both with clients and other Grant Thornton member firms.
